Water Supply

Pardee Reservoir and Spillway

EBMUD's water supply system begins at the Mokelumne River watershed and extends 90 miles to the East Bay. You can learn about the water system and get an overview of EBMUD studies and programs under way and planned for the future in EBMUD's Urban Water Management Plan.

Current Projects
EBMUD's Mokelumne River water supply is not sufficient to meet the needs of EBMUD customers during a drought.  Water reliability can also be affected by various events such as droughts and earthquakes.  EBMUD is working on many water system improvements to meet projected needs and to increase water reliability.

Camanche Reservoir Release Rates
Providing current and projected releases from Camanche Reservoir.

Climate Change
EBMUD has developed mitigation and adaptation strategies to deal with the changing climate and its effects on water resources.

Mokelumne/Amador/Calaveras Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (MAC IRWMP)
As part of our commitment to foster regional cooperation and encourage an integrated approach toward water resource planning, EBMUD is participating in efforts to prepare an update to the MAC IRWMP.

Camanche Water Rights Permit Extension Project
EBMUD has filed a petition with the State Water Resources Control Board to extend EBMUD's existing Camanche water right Permit 10478 to the year 2040.

Water Supply Management Program
In October 1993, EBMUD adopted a long-term Water Supply Management Program (WSMP) to guide the provision of a reliable high-quality water supply to the East Bay through 2020.  Currently, EBMUD is looking even further into the future and updating the WSMP, which will now have a planning horizon of 2040.
