EBMUD Campaign Ordinance Violation Reported

NOTE TO EDITORS: Under the East Bay Municipal Utility District Campaign Finance Reform Ordinance, adopted in 1992 and last amended in 2010, all violations of the reporting requirements of this ordinance must be noticed to the news media.

The East Bay Municipal Utility District has determined that Matt Turner, who ran in 2022 for a seat on the EBMUD Board of Directors, violated this ordinance by not filing the required final campaign statement.

According to District Secretary Rischa Cole, the statement was to detail campaign contributions, loans, and expenditures for the period between October 23, 2022 and December 31, 2022. Turner had until March 28, 2023 to meet the reporting deadline. Turner’s failure to do so violated Section VI.3 of the EBMUD Campaign Finance Reform Ordinance.

Turner was unsuccessful in his bid for the Ward 7 seat, which includes Castro Valley; communities of Cherryland and Fairview; and portions of San Leandro, San Lorenzo, San Ramon, and Hayward.
