Fats, oils and grease

No Cooking Oil or Grease down the drain!

No Cooking Oil or Grease down the drain!

Cooking fats, oils and grease (FOG), if washed down the drain clog pipes, which can lead to sewage back-ups at home, your business or in the community's sewer pipes and into San Francisco Bay.

Residential cooking fats, oil and grease (FOG)

To reduce grease-related problems at home:

  • Scrape plates before washing to reduce FOG in your sewer pipes. Email cleanbay@ebmud.com to order a free FOG scraper.
  • Place large quantities of cooking oil in sealed containers. Pour out the oil at a residential cooking oil drop-off location.
