Cooking fats, oils and grease (FOG), if washed down the drain clog pipes, which can lead to sewage back-ups at home, your business or in the community's sewer pipes and into San Francisco Bay.

To reduce grease-related problems at home:
- Scrape plates before washing to reduce FOG in your sewer pipes. Email cleanbay@ebmud.com to order a free FOG scraper.
- Place large quantities of cooking oil in sealed containers. Pour out the oil at a residential cooking oil drop-off location.
