It’s summertime and the staycation is easy. As part of EBMUD’s mission, we make water and watersheds available to you. Whether you’re looking for local outdoor recreation in the East Bay, or want to get away to the Sierra Foothills, it’s that time of year to be in, near and around water.
While we work to protect our watersheds, wildlife and ecosystems for the next East Bay generation, we invite you to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Enjoy endless summer days and nights at Pardee and Camanche Reservoirs–just two hours away from the East Bay–where bass and trout fishing is strong and hiking trails stretch for miles. While Pardee (like all our drinking water reservoirs) is a no-body-contact lake, you’re more than welcome to take a dip in Camanche.
Camanche also offers self-guided bird-watching tours, boat rentals and camping spots for the ultimate getaway. Don’t forget to bring your pups to enjoy all that the watershed has to offer.
If a two-hour drive is too long, keep it local at Lafayette or San Pablo reservoirs. Both of these bodies of water are surrounded by expansive trails, and allow boating and fishing as well. Enjoy picnics, barbecues and bird-watching from any of the reservoirs’ beautiful lookouts. Parks close at sundown every day. Visit ebmud.com/recreation for trail use permits, maps and more.
While you’re out, don’t forget to stay hydrated and take a Drink from the Sink! EBMUD tap water is the most refreshing water around. Keep an eye out for EBMUD’s mobile water trailer (our “Water on Wheels”) serving up cold, fresh, free tap water at summer festivals and events throughout the East Bay.
